I just looked it up. We first played Homeboy Sandman on the radio show (OUR show) in 2010. Since then, we've played A LOT of tracks (playlist) and even did some ON AIR interviews [ 1 | 2 ].
Needless to say, anytime I see a new Homeboy Sandman project come across my Bandcamp feed, it's an automatic purchase.
Just so happens that he released a couple of projects around the time I was really getting into 3D printing and I had the idea to press up some records and create a limited edition package that would be sold through my site: HIPHOP.family
It was a really dope experience! We did live streams where we interviewed folks involved with the projects, chatted with folks who picked up the project and had a giveaway for test pressings. You can check them out at https://hiphop.family/seeds/dlxhhf001
The project even got listed on Discogs and BinoBeRockin sent in an unboxing video!
It was orginally supposed to be a 7" record, but Homeboy Sandman said he had another record dropping soon. When I heard it, I was like yeah, this should be a double sided EP on 12" vinyl.
I had so many ideas for this package! But due to my skill level and equipment access at the time, I was only really able to get these items to what I saw in my mind. I think they came out really dope!
Lenticular Print: This is an 8 inch x 8 inch print that will show either the "Dancing Tree" or "Corn Hole Legend" album artwork depending on the viewing angle. It also comes with a stand so you can display it.
Miniture Corn Hole Boards: A set of 2 with attachable catapults for an extra degree of difficulty. The perfect training set to help you become a Corn Hole Legend! haha
Acorn Lightup Keychain: A portable reminder that we all have a light within us with the potential to grow into a mighty (Dancing) tree, haha.
Custom Box: Remember when I said, we made the pivot to releasing a 12" instead of a 7"? Well, I had no clue how difficult it would be to actually create a box that could hold the record as well as all the other items. haha I think the final outcome was worth all the stress! haha
